Math Calculators

Average Calculator

Paste any list of numbers — test scores, expenses, measurements — and get the mean, median, and mode together, plus count and sum. The fastest way to summarize

Private by design: this tool runs 100% in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent, stored, or tracked.

How to use this calculator

  1. Paste or type your numbers, separated by commas, spaces, or new lines.
  2. See the mean, median, mode, count, and sum instantly.

The formulas

Mean = sum of values ÷ count. Median = middle value of the sorted list (average of the two middle values when the count is even). Mode = most frequently occurring value.

Worked example

Scores 4, 8, 6, 5, 3: sum = 26, count = 5, mean = 5.2, median = 5 (middle of sorted 3,4,5,6,8), mode = none (no repeats).

About this tool

Paste any list of numbers — test scores, expenses, measurements — and get the mean, median, and mode together, plus count and sum. The fastest way to summarize a dataset.

Frequently asked questions

Mean vs. median — which is better?

The mean uses every value, so one billionaire in a room of interns skews it. The median (middle value) resists outliers — that's why incomes are usually reported as medians.

What if no number repeats?

Then there is no mode — the calculator will tell you so. Some datasets have two modes (bimodal).

What about a weighted average?

Use our GPA calculator — it weights each grade by credit hours, which a plain average can't do.

How many numbers can I enter?

As many as you like — paste hundreds separated by commas, spaces, or new lines.
