Salary to Hourly Calculator

Comparing a salaried job offer to an hourly one? This calculator converts any annual salary into its equivalent hourly wage, so you can compare offers apples to

Private by design: this tool runs 100% in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent, stored, or tracked.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter your gross annual salary (before taxes).
  2. Enter how many hours you work per week (40 is standard full-time).
  3. Enter how many weeks per year you work (52 minus unpaid time off).
  4. Your equivalent hourly wage appears instantly.

The formula

Hourly wage = Annual salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks per year). For example, $60,000 ÷ (40 × 52) = $28.85 per hour. If you take 2 weeks unpaid, use 50 weeks: $60,000 ÷ (40 × 50) = $30.00 per hour.

Worked example

A $75,000 salary at 40 hours/week for 50 weeks (2 weeks unpaid vacation) equals $75,000 ÷ 2,000 = $37.50/hour. That makes it easy to compare against an hourly offer of, say, $36/hour.

Frequently asked questions

Does this include taxes?

No — this converts gross salary to gross hourly pay. Your take-home hourly rate will be lower after income tax, Social Security/Medicare, and deductions. Use our take-home pay calculator for the after-tax picture.

What if I work overtime?

Enter your typical total hours including overtime for the most accurate equivalent rate. Note that many salaried roles don't pay overtime, which effectively lowers your true hourly rate as hours rise.

Is 2,080 hours the right divisor?

2,080 (40 × 52) is the standard full-time year, but it's only accurate if you work every week. Subtract unpaid weeks for a truer number — the calculator lets you set weeks per year yourself.

Is my salary data private?

Yes. The calculation runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Your salary is never sent to any server, stored, or logged.
