Take-Home Pay Calculator

Your salary number and your paycheck number are two very different things. This calculator estimates your take-home (net) pay by subtracting income tax, payroll

Private by design: this tool runs 100% in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent, stored, or tracked.

Estimate only β€” real withholding depends on tax brackets, filing status, and local rules.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter your gross pay for the period (annual, monthly, or per paycheck).
  2. Enter your effective income tax rate as a percentage.
  3. Add payroll taxes and other deductions (retirement, insurance) as percentages or amounts.
  4. Read your estimated net pay instantly.

How the estimate works

Net pay = Gross pay βˆ’ income tax βˆ’ payroll taxes βˆ’ deductions. Because real tax systems are progressive (different rates on different slices of income), use your effective tax rate β€” total tax paid Γ· gross income β€” for the closest estimate.

Worked example

Gross monthly pay of $6,000 with a 18% effective income tax rate, 7.65% payroll tax, and $300 in deductions: tax = $1,080 + $459 = $1,539; take-home β‰ˆ $6,000 βˆ’ $1,539 βˆ’ $300 = $4,161.

About this tool

Your salary number and your paycheck number are two very different things. This calculator estimates your take-home (net) pay by subtracting income tax, payroll taxes, and your deductions from gross pay β€” so you can budget on the number that actually lands in your account.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is this estimate?

It's a planning estimate, not tax advice. Real paychecks depend on progressive tax brackets, filing status, pre-tax vs post-tax deductions, and local taxes. For exact figures, check a recent pay stub or your country's tax calculator.

What's the difference between marginal and effective tax rate?

Your marginal rate is the tax on your last dollar earned; your effective rate is total tax Γ· total income and is always lower. Enter the effective rate here for a realistic estimate.

Does it handle bonuses or overtime?

Add them to your gross pay for the period. Note that bonuses are often withheld at a flat supplemental rate, which can differ from your regular withholding.

Is my pay information stored?

No. Everything is computed locally in your browser. Close the tab and the numbers are gone β€” nothing is transmitted or saved.
