Private by design: this tool runs 100% in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent, stored, or tracked.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the original (full) price.
  2. Enter the discount percentage.
  3. See the sale price and your savings instantly.
  4. Chain discounts: enter the sale price as a new original price for 'extra % off' deals.

The formula

Savings = original price × (discount ÷ 100). Sale price = original price − savings. Equivalently: sale price = original × (1 − discount ÷ 100).

Worked example

A $120 jacket at 25% off: savings = $120 × 0.25 = $30, sale price = $120 − $30 = $90.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate 20% off quickly?

Multiply the price by (1 − discount ÷ 100). For 20% off, multiply by 0.80. A $50 item becomes $40.

What about an extra 10% off the sale price?

Apply them one after another, not added together. 25% off then an extra 10% off equals 32.5% total off — not 35%.

Is tax calculated before or after the discount?

In most places, discount first, then tax on the reduced price. So a $90 sale item at 8% tax costs $97.20.

Are the prices rounded?

Yes — results are rounded to the nearest cent, the way stores price items.
